Today, I’ll be working in my smaller 6×6 inch art journal and creating a spring-time themed page incorporating elements from the gorgeous stamp set called “Don’t forget to fly” by Finnabair for Prima. I have put a full supplies list at the end of this post.
If you do any Gelli plate printing, you will no doubt have a few prints that did not turn out as well as you expected. Today I am using one such piece as the background for my journal page.
Firstly, I applied white gesso through a bubbles stencil diagonally across the page before using a script stamp and one of the small circle stamps to add texture across the page, using “Cornflower Blue” and “Rose Madder” Archival ink. I then stamped some of the stitched circles around over the gesso, using “Jet Black” Archival ink.
I stamped elements from the Finnabair stamp set, which I then coloured with Cosmic Shimmer watercolour paints in pink and purple, before cutting them out.
I placed the butterfly centrally and stuck it down by it’s body only, leaving the wings slightly raised; before arranging the circles diagonally over the gesso bubbles, and stuck everything down with PVA glue.
I opted for a quote from Tim Holtz’s “Small Talk” sticker pad; which I cut in 2 and then edged each piece with the pink Archival ink before attaching to the page and outlining with my Pigma Micron pen and adding some clear Wink of Stella over the top.
I added a border to the page using the pink Archival ink and a blending tool, before edging the page with black Archival ink to tie in with the black elements on the page. Finally, I added some dots of Liquid Pearls randomly around the circles and some Stickles glitter glue to the butterfly’s body.
So, that was today’s project and I hope you enjoyed it. If you did, then please let me know by liking this post and, for further ideas and inspiration, please follow my blog on here. I am also on social media – you can find me on both Facebook and Instagram.
Happy crafting, Gem
