Blue Bird Birthday Card

Another quick make for today’s blog post.  I have had a bird stamp from Stampendous for ages and have finally got around to using it!!!  I was in the mood for a limited palette colourway for my project for today, as I have been using so many colours in my recent cards and art journal pages.

For the panel on the card, I firstly stamped a number of stamps including a text, a floral design (from Inkadinkado) and some splats using Archival Ink in “Cornflower Blue”.  I then ran the panel through my trusty little Cuttlebug using a Sheena Douglas embossing folder.  Using the same blue ink with a blending tool, I inked around the edges and over the raised areas of the card.

To create my bird topper, I stamped the bird using the Cornflower Blue in and then edged the topper with the same colour.

I then added a strip of white satin ribbon to the panel, before gluing the little bird topper using Pinflair 3D Glue Gel.

I die cut one of the “Wildflowers” from a set by Tim Holtz, which I covered in VersaMark clear ink and added some Cosmic Shimmer embossing powder in “Steel Blue Aurora” and heat set it.  I then added this flower to the card panel using the glue gel.

I stamped and embossed the sentiment in the same blue embossing powder.  I inked around the edges with the blue Archival ink, before sticking it to the card panel with glue gel.

Finally, I stuck the panel onto a standard A6 card blank and added some gems for a bit of sparkle.

I hope that you like the card.  If you do, please feel free to follow me on here, as I will be posting more cards, as well as art journal pages and mixed media pieces in the future.
